Cross-Functional Business English — Technology

Business English Program · Technology company · 15-person cross-functional team · Engineering, product, client services

Situation

A cross-functional team spanning engineering, product, and client services needed to improve the quality of their English-language communications — emails, decks, and client-facing documents were going through multiple revision cycles before they could be sent externally.

Approach

Ran a modular Business English program using participants' real emails, decks, and meeting recordings as training material. Built "before" and "after" models from the team's own work. Coached message structure, tone adaptation for different audiences, and plain-language rewriting for technical content.

Outcome

Revision cycles on client-facing documents dropped measurably. Participants retained the "after" models as reusable templates. The program was structured for internal facilitators to continue reinforcing after the engagement ended.

Takeaway Business English training that uses textbook exercises produces textbook English. Training that uses the team's real work produces usable English.
